My Netflix Instant Queue

So, if you have Netflix, you already know about the instant queue available for reserving TV shows and movies you want to watch later. You just select the handy little "add to instant queue" button and VOILA! It's added to your instant queue to watch at your leisure... when you get around to it... eventually.

Now, is it just me, or does anyone else have a difficult time ever getting around to watching ANYTHING in their instant queue? Because I never do. Ever. I get all excited when new additions appear for me to select from and I add them as fast as is humanly possible to the instant queue but... I never watch them.

I love having them there "just in case", but I'd rather waste the next 20 minutes of my life browsing through the "Recently Added" and "New Additions" categories to ever focus on what's already reserved in my instant queue. And then, months later, I go through my instant queue and delete half of what I had reserved months earlier thinking I was SO EXCITED to watch them... and then I just never got around to it and discovered... meh, I didn't really want to watch them that much anyway.

Am I the only one with this problem? Is this just evidence of a long hidden ADD? Or are there actually people out there with such discipline and organizational skills that they watch everything in the instant queue before adding new items to it? (If this is the case, I would seriously love to meet you. I think you'd be fascinating...)

Furthermore, does anyone else feel like they accomplished something important when they delete another show or movie from their instant queue after actually watching it and rating it? I feel like I just finished a huge homework project. Or built a brand new shiny shopping mall. Or cleaned out my refrigerator the the first time in 3 months. (I'm just kidding about that last part... That has never happened... Ever.) But it feels like I did something very important. That I should receive a little trophy... or plaque... or medal... or even just a ribbon for. You know? Just a little ribbon... it doesn't even need to be bedazzled... or have fringe. Heck, it doesn't even need to be a blue ribbon; it could be a red ribbon, with very little flair. I'm not asking for much.

But yeah, anyway... I just thought everyone should know that I deleted two, yes TWO, items from my instant queue this weekend. And that, my friends? THAT, is a big deal.

I will accept congratulatory gifts in the form of red ribbons with very little flair. As long as it's shiny.

  1. My one recommendation to you as far as Netflix is concerned: watch Norwegian Ninja. Don't put it on instant queue, just watch it. It's that good.
